After watching this video, my reaction to it is that I don’t believe these “for profit” colleges make it any easier on students. My reason for saying this is because during the video, it shows how much difference there is between a “for profit” school and a community college or other schools tuition pay. The increase is a big amount and it is also said in the video that these for profit schools leave students in more debt than other colleges after earning their degree. Also as a professor this is a job that you can just get fired after one year, how assuring of a job is that? I currently have no friends that I know of that are in any schools like these and hope they don’t.
What to be aware of when choosing a college is make sure the college is a good school that promises out of field work and experience, make sure your going to get an education that is worth it and a faculty that is more focused on the students and education. To me its seems like these for profit schools are more for business and just to make money, that’s why they charge so much, and come out with commercial that look more like ads and don’t focus on the educational highlights of the school, not just making or promoting the school appeal to look good. The only good I see is that their development of new courses is fast, but if it is developed so fast I believe how can it be so organized and turn out good when done in such quick time?
After watching this video, the way it affects my decision or choosing of a college is to be more aware and find out more information and make sure you really want to go to the college you are choosing. I still feel that LaGuardia was the right decision for me though so I can’t say I regret that, Try to go to a school that has a decent tuition pay or has an amount that you are willing to pay.

Job Interviewing tips
Today in class we searched for job interviewing tips. The purpose of this is to provide us with a better advantage and relaxed state of mind when preparing and going to an interview. Some good tips that were given were to plan ahead, basically meaning to do alittle homework on the company that your are applying for and make sure that all of your answers are accurate and interesting. Role play was another good tip that i would find useful. This tip helps so you can get a feel of how interview should go and how you should rehearse answers to your questions.
Trying to relate to the interviewer will also be of good use when going to a job interview, meaning focus all your answers and mentioned achievments to those that are positive and go hand in hand with job your are trying to get. Its always important to also try to stay calm at all times, employers wnat somebody who can keep there cool under pressure, not some who will break down. Eye contact is also a very important tip because you want to show the interviewer your interested and that you really want the job.
These website helped and give me a better sense of how to perform and prepare myself when heading to a job interview. Also let be known that just in the first 5 minutes of an interview, an interviewr can have already mnade there decision of hiring you or not, body posture, gooming facial expression, and hanshake are all some things the interviewer will be observing about you so make sure to be fully prepared for any situation. Resume Tips
After doing research on the internet, i found 3 websites about resumes that i believe gave some good tips when it comes to the approach you want to use for your resume. One of the main tips is to only add valuable information and not make your resume so dull and boring. Some tips that were given were to only mention information that will catch the readers eye and leave all the useless information out. For example your college degree or any additional achievments should be brief, and only included if it has something to do with the job that you are applying for.also of why it isnt good to lie on a resume. Mainly the reason being because if you lie on a reseum about experience or certain qualifications...what will happen when it comes to having to use or show the qualifications you claim to have?
Another tip that one of the sites listed showed is of what type of resume is good for you. Their are certain types of resumes for certain kind of jobs you are applying for. Some types are chronological, which means you meet all skills, experiecne and educational requirements. Functional, your a new graduate, changing field of work. Curriculum vitae, resumes used for scientist or doctor, and electronic resumes, used to respond to internet job postings or large employers with apllicant tracking systems. With sio many types to choose from we should make sure that the one we choose when it comes to make a resume is the one that will suit us best.
One tip that i do think helps alot that i read about is the placement in which you put everything in the resume. Your first portion or top half of resume should include anything that would draw the employers attention, its basically like if your advertising yourself . So the top should include anything that isn't dull, (thats left for the middle portion of resume) and include something that is going to make the employer wnat to continue reading or remmeber you the day they decide to call applicants back. Overall these tips all help top build together a properly formed resume that will increase the chances of you getting a job.

Portable job skills
In class today we learned about how to make an appropriate job resume. For example what to include such as education, experience, skills, certifications, licenses, etc. Also we learned about transferable/portable job skills which basically are skills that you can take and put to good use at another job. Some portable job skills are computer skills, work habits, social skills, etc.
I also read some portable job skills articles and discovered that woman who change jobs are more likley to succeed in thier new firm than most men. Reason for being is because unlike men, women build their success on external contacts, meaning they develope good relationships from outside sources and clients rather than in the work enviorment. Women put mort thought into changing their jobs such as cultural fit and values other than men due to the reason of how limited usually the women keep their bond from men workers.
Another article i read said that most jobs you have to depend on the job more for the success rather than the portable skills that you have. For example if you are in a job that requires you to work with colleagues rather than outside sources shows less effectiveness at a job. It may be difficult sometime for you to seperate your skills to the performance of your enviorment at the job. Getting a balnce of the two is difficult because most times you need depend on your work within an organization.
In conclusion, in this class i learned skills to make a better presentable resume for a job and also how crucial or minimal your portable skills can be of value in certain job firms. Whether of sexuality or just of company values or enviorment.

Turning points chapter 2
Chapter 2 emphasizes on identifying your values and personality type. It helps to teach you how to describe yourself in ways to make good choices towrds a career. It puts in to consideration the personality identity data base which consist of four dimensions of ourselves:Values, Personality types, Interests, and Skills. Alll these play a major role in choosing a career. In some career making decisions you may have only 1 of the four dimensions, although you may have that 1 dimension of interests in that career you must take in also that the other three dimensions do not go hand in hand with your interest, leading to the question will you be happy working that career for the rest of your life?
This chapter did assisit me to choose my career goal much more wisely, and to really look at myself and my values and see what job is most compatable with who i am, even though sometimes i feel like i cant even give a solid answer to that question. If i could, i think i would know what kind of career i wanted to pursue already. The Holland and Myers test help to see what jopbs are best compatible with your personality, but in the end, it is all up to you whetehr that is the right career decision for you or not.
The activities that i chose to do where the work value survey and the see yourself from different perspectives. The work values i chose as the highest were self-improvement, achievment, physical activity adventure, risk excitement. This helps somewhat in deciding on a career because i know i dont want to be sitting at a desk all day, i'd rather being doing something physical or more sociable. The seeing yourself from different perspective helps to visualize yourself froma third person view, and see what otehrs think of you . It makes you think wheter looking at yourself in this view, do you see anything about yourself that an employer would see as a potential employee? Overall this chapter assisted in putting my values and what i have to offer for a job in place a little more, even though i still dont know what career i want to pursue.

Personality test
My reaction to the personality test was good. I thought that the test was pretty accurate with the percentages that came out. It showed some career options for the percentages of your results. Also showed what celebrities also came out with the same results as you. The site had a link to show you what schools specialize in the career that the test showed most suitable for you.
